Medication Of Clear Mind

Neurobiologists from the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center (North Carolina, USA) have been able to find out why meditation reduces the level of anxiety among mentally healthy people, for the first time determining which brain structures are involved in this process.

The work is published in Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience, M.

Previous studies have shown that medicine helps with generalized disturbing disorders and depression, but the effects of mental health have not yet been studied. Moreover, it has not yet been clear which areas of the brain are being intensified.

15 healthy volunteers with a normal level of anxiety who had no previous experience of meditation were selected as participants in the experiment. In four 20-minute classes, they all learned the so-called " clear mind meditation " , a state of impartiality. Under this form of meditation, human beings tend to focus on their breathing and physical feelings, easily passing through discomfort thoughts and emotions.

Before and after meditation, the MRI determined the activity of brain areas and the level of anxiety of participants. On average, the latter was found to have declined by more than 39 per cent. Most of the participants in the experiment reported that they felt much calmer.

With regard to the brain, the sedative effect of the meditation has been associated with activism in the front lumbar crust, the ventralromed prefrontal crust and the front island fraction of the brain ' s leading regions. During the meditation, there was an upsurge in the ventricular prefrontal measles, areas, including controlling worries. When the activity moved to the front lumbar, an area that manages the thinking and emotions, the man calmed down.

" The results show that the " meditation of clear mind " reduces the worrisomeness through mechanisms involved in regulating self-awareness-related thought processes " , the authors note.
