Zen Technology
Meditation even in different Zen schools is a little different. In Japan (Soto and Rinzai schools) emphasis is placed on posing and breathing, while in the Chogue School (Korean tradition), the focus is on the state of mind. I myself was raised at the Zen School, "Kwan Um," affiliated to the Chogue Order, and what I'm going to say about Medicine technology from personal experience.
How to sit in the Zen for meditation you can read in the beautiful article of Sekid Katsuki ' s Zen Practice on BIBLYOTECA page. There's even an illustration. So let's talk about how the mind should be "sitting" during the meditation.
First of all, don't fight your thoughts, don't try to stop them or influence them, so stop your thoughts, you'll be different. The thoughts come and go like a cloud on the sky. If you don't pay attention to them, they're going to go down and get clean. It's like a clouded water in a glass. If you don't touch the glass, the flour will fall and the water will clear. The thoughts feed our attention to them. As soon as we estimate any of them (on the scale of " bad-good " , " I don't like " , " I don't want to " ), instantly it takes all our attention, and, as we see it, we go far away from the meditation room.
During the Zen meditation, we don't close our eyes, because in closed eyes, there's a pattern of thinking. So that the flux of automatic thinking is less distractive, cover your eyes so you can only keep the cheeks. Look at all the sculptures and illustrations of Buddha's eyes are almost closed.
If you start sleeping during the meditation, open your eyes wide.
There are many methods (“cods”) that help to avoid thinking at first time during the meditation. You can read the mantra. You can watch your breath counting. One, two, three... to ten. Then again to ten, again to ten, etc. As soon as you start counting "oneteen, twelve..." it means you're asleep.
Another very good way to keep mind focused and calm:
Our hands during the Zen Mediation are locked in wisdom at a point two fingers below the beam. It's the center of our physical body, the primary energy center and the intuition center. If the focus is on this point, it is possible to hear the pulse beating in a while. First, just keep an eye on him, and when he's clearer, you're going to start reiterating some mantle. For example, " GA-TE-GA-TE-PA-RA-TE-PA-RA-SAM-GA-TE-BOD-HY-SWA-HA " .
